The Nomads House: A Family-Friendly Cabin Retreat in Åre, Sweden

In the heart of Åre, Sweden, The Nomads House is a cozy, family-friendly cabin that invites you to connect with nature, explore the outdoors in the summer and adventure to the ski resorts the region has to offer in the winter. Close to town, the cabin is also located in hiking distance to a beautiful waterfall. The Nomads House offers a perfect blend of comfort and nature, making it an ideal retreat for those who love the outdoors, a good day of riding and cherishing time together.

Your Sweden Cabin Hosts

VOITED Ambassadors Valerie Cook and Tim Boffé are the epiphanie of outdoor enthusiasts. As professional snowboard/ski instructors and guides they pioneered the combination of vanlife and hosting with their Nomads Bus from 2016 through 2020. An old American schoolbus transformed into a hostel on wheels would take the two including their clients to the best spots all around Europe to experience the outdoors. A few years, two kids and a move to their dream destination Sweden later, The Nomads Family is still following their passion of teaching and guiding alongside being the hosts of their new guesthouse - The Nomads House!

Thus the Nomads House isn’t just a place to stay -  it’s a reflection of the values and lifestyle of Valerie and Tim. The two share their journey regularly as @thenomadsfamily on Instagram. They are a family deeply rooted in the love for travel, nature, riding and the simple life. Their Nomads House cabin in Åre is an extension of their passion, designed to be a home away from home for other travelers, families and small groups who seek a connection with the outdoors.

Step outside in Åre

One of the best things about staying at The Nomads House is the easy access to Åre’s endless outdoor activities. Whether you’re visiting in winter or summer, there’s always something to do. Valerie and Tim initially fell in love with Åre because of its very high quality of life. Often called “little Stockholm” due to the amount of “city things” it has to offer yet combined with outdoor life at the foot of the mountains and along the Indalsäven river (which creates the beautiful waterfall we already mentioned!).

In the winter, Åre turns into a true haven for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. The town's warm, family-friendly vibe is reflected across the whole resort, which happens to be the biggest in Scandinavia. It includes gentle slopes for beginners and playful terrain for kids, a legendary snow park and lots of fun terrain for skilled adults to stay entertained. Of course, Valerie and Tim favor the amazing backcountry touring terrain. Beyond the ski lifts, there are opportunities for snowshoeing, ice skating, dog sledding, and even ice climbing.

As the snow melts, Åre transforms into a green oasis, perfect for hiking, mountain biking, and fishing. The Nomads Family loves sharing their favorite trails, from easy walks to more challenging hikes that offer stunning views of the surrounding peaks. They’ll also point you towards the best spots for a family picnic or a day of canoeing on the lakes.

Cozy Cabin Life - Living the Nordic Lifestyle

From the moment you step inside The Nomads House, you’ll feel the warmth and care that has gone into creating this space. The Nordic interior is simple yet inviting, with lots of natural wood and cozy textiles, including some VOITED Blankets! Put on your Soul Slippers and grab a CloudTouch® Blanket to get cozy with a freshly brewed coffee on the porch next to the tripod fireplace in the morning. How about enjoying an evening by the fire, sharing stories about past and future adventures?

The Nomads House offers a fully equipped kitchen, a master bedroom on the ground floor, and a spacious upstairs bedroom that sleeps four. There's a cozy living room and a single bathroom, while outside, the wooden south-facing terrace is perfect for unwinding with a sundowner after a day of skiing, hiking, or biking. It’s a place where the kids can roam freely, and you can simply enjoy being together, away from the usual distractions of daily life.

The Magic of Åre at The Nomads House Cabin

Whether you’re skiing in the winter, hiking in the summer, or just relaxing by the fire, The Nomads House offers a warm, welcoming space where memories are made. Valerie and Tim are not only going to be your hosts but are also at your service with their snowboard and ski guiding and instructing at the Nomads Academy.
